Comments:

After graduating from college, I moved to San Francisco to do a dietetic internship at UCSF. I’ve lived in California ever since. Before my daughters were born, I worked in hospitals as a clinical dietitian. When my oldest daughter left for college in 1987, I went back to school and got a master’s degree in Mass Communications—the Print Media. Eventually, I combined both degrees in my career. I retired from working at UC Davis in the Department of Nutrition, researching and writing nutrition curriculum and nutrition education materials for low-income families.

My two daughters and their families, including eight grandchildren, are the joy of my life! I moved to Modesto November 2008 to live closer to Becky and family. Amy and family live in Southern California and I travel there a number of times each year to visit.

My retirement years have included travel and fun with family and friends, lots of bridge games, and much church and small group Bible study involvement. I bought a new home in January 2010 and have enjoyed the challenge of mastering new home/yard maintenance skills. To help with my yard-work skills, I joined the Modesto Garden Club. My newest adventure is working in Patient Service as a volunteer in a local hospital. Through all these activities, I’ve met a wonderful group of new friends and Modesto has truly become my "home." I was divorced in 2009 and am so thankful for God’s abundant blessings through the ups and downs of life.

I have many fond memories of my years at Roosevelt and am really looking forward to our 50th reunion. Many, many thanks go to the committee for all their planning and for this fantastic website.

I was saddened to hear of Joan's passing.  She was a member of our Keewaydin School's 6th grade class. (photo in Ted-Bits:Teacher: Miss Swanbeck).  I remember Joan as an outstanding, gracious, intelligent and active student as she grew up in the Nokomis and Roosevelt communities.  Our paths did not cross in California  but thanks to Peggy Crist Barrett for sharing the special friendship she had with Joan including her last conversation.  My sincere condolences to her lovely family and close friends.

This is a photo of me with my brother, Jim Alinder, RHS class of 1959, taken on his birthday, March 31, 2009. We were playing bridge and if you can see the cards, the dummy was an actual dealt hand--quite a nice birthday surprise for Jim!

Christmas 2008: Raul, Becky, Azriel, Bethany, and Eliana. Becky and Raul met at UC Irvine. Raul went on to graduate from medical school at UC San Diego and is now a family practice physician. Becky went on to get a master's degree in public health from UCLA. She is now a stay-at-home mom home schooling their three children.

November 2008: This photo was taken in court when twins, Isaac and Isaiah, were adopted. With them are Scott and Amy, Kim, Savanna, Joshua, and the judge. Amy and Scott met at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena where Amy received a master's degree in marriage and family therapy and Scott received a master of divinity degree. Scott was later ordained as a Presbyterian minister. Amy works for a private adoption agency as head of their Fost/Adopt Program, placing foster children in homes where they will be permanently adopted. One interesting note is that Scott's mom and dad are both from Minneapolis, and Scott's father graduated from Roosevelt seven years before I did. Small world!
