My sympathy to Sandera's husband, children, and grandhildren. Sandy was a great gal and classmate. Her photo brought back many memories of the time we spent in the classroom together.
I remember Sandy playing the accordion on stage at Hiawtha School. In addition, she, Mary Schmaltz, and I were in the orchestra at Hiawatha. The school district orchestra director was Miss Olson. We played the same music that she taught/directed at Morris Park. For concerts, Sandy, Mary, and I would go out to Morris Park to play with the orchestra there, because they needed clarinettes (Mary and Sandy) and a saxophone (me).
It was fun to read Jerry Wagnild's account (what a memory) and recall playing the clarinet with Sandra. Hiawatha was a good elementary school! Then at Roosevelt, our senior year, Sandra joined the Sagamore staff. She was in charge of the Senior section and did a meticulous job. Also, she was part of the decision to photograph as many seniors as possible who might not get special photos in the Sagamore. My sympathies to Sandra's family!

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Sandy. So sad to lose another classmate.

That is why the orchestra sounded so squeaky...I played the bass drum with Chuck Carlson...boom, boom, boom.

I knew Sandra all the way from grade school through high school. Her family has my condolences.
