It is with much sadness that we learned of Tom's passing this a.m. He was a wonderful friend and classmate throughout Jr. & Sr. High. I think many of our classmates knew that Tom was a Mpls. Police Officer but probably few knew he was one of the lead detectives in the Mpls. Robbery & Homicide Division, investigating and solving many very high profile cases. In our adult lives Tom and I ran into each other professionally while he was investigating cases involving adult parolees and I was a parole officer with Hennepin County. Each of our agencies had been operating independently with very little inter-agency communication. However, as a result of Tom & my friendship we established a collaboration between our agencies with investigators faxing surveillance photos of crime suspects to our parole unit which were then circulated among our parole staff. As a result of this collaboration, countless robbery suspects were identified and brought to justice. Tom was highly regarded as a true professional thoughout the criminal justice system. He will be missed.

Tom was a great guy. We grew up together and spent a lot of time at Keewaydin Park in South Minneapolis. I have such good memories of him and am very sad to hear of his passing.
Tom was great guy and good athlete. Met Tom at Keewaydin Park playing football & baseball over 60 years ago. A quality person...my condolences to the family.
I was so sad to hear of Tom's passing. I was also part of the "Keewaydin neightborhood gang" and lived about three blocks from Tom's house. I have fond memories of the Nokomis Jr. and RHS days and of Tom's friendship. Hearing of his contributions to the military and service as a Mpls. police officer attest to his fine character and sense of duty. He was one of the "good guys". My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Marlyce Benson Bjeldanes
