Comments:

I have been in private practice as a general internist in the Washington, D.C. area for over 30 years. Graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Minnesota; Sophomore SkiUMah Award for Outstanding Leadership: Junior Phi Beta Kappa, Honors Council President; Chemistry Honorary Society; NorthStar Award. After graduating from Harvard Medical School, I attended Stanford where I did my internship and residency in Internal Medicine and came to Washington, D.C. in the Public Health Service working with HEW and VA Central Office.

As a full-time faculty member at George Washington University, I coordinated the Intern and Resident Educational programs for the Department of Medicine. For five years I was the internist on the National Board of Medical Examiners Part III Committee, which writes the exam all doctors must pass after their internships. I have worked with the American Board of Internal Medicine on its certifying and re-certifying examination. I've served on various Advisory Committees to Harvard Medical School as they have looked at curriculum reform. I've been involved in Harvard Medical School Alumni activities in the Washington, D.C. area. I have been on the Executive Committee of the Academy of Medicine of Washington, D.C. for 15 years.

I am consistently listed among the Top Doctors in the Washingtonian Magazine, Naifeh and Smith "Best Doctors in America" and in Checkbook Magazine as being among the Top Doctors in the Washington area. I am one of the expert panel of physicians on the U.S. News and World Report web page under Health and Medicine. I have helped to select the White House Interns. I was certified in nitrox diving at the Cousteau Resort in Fiji in 2006. At the May 2011 Washington, D.C. American College of Physicians Harvard/Hopkins Meeting, I had the highest score on a Jeopardy game played by several thousand physicians. I am passionate about matters involving the environment and eager to scuba dive whenever I get the chance.

A family photograph taken at Schiek's Cafe. I wonder if this is still in existence and whether it is still well thought of. I vaguely remember a restaurant called Charlie's, which had a statue or fountain by the front door. Does Charlie's still exist?
