PENELOPE (Penny) PADDOCK KRIEGER

I met Chuck, my future husband, just after Roosevelt graduation. He was a Californian, living temporarily next door. I started college at St. Olaf. At the end of my sophomore year I transferred to UCLA and moved to Caifornia. We were married on Oct. 12, 1963. I graduated from UCLA in January 1965 with a BA in mathmetics. I joined my husband in the computer field as a programmer. He was an Electronic Engineer. We lived in the Orange County area of Southern California for 18 years. In 1971 I quit working and we adopted our first daughter, Karen. In 1975 we adopted our second daughter, Kristin. In 1983 we moved to Northern California and have since lived in the East Bay near San Francisco. I was active in PTA and Girl Scouts with my girls. In 1989 I returned to the working world, again doing computer programming. I retired at the end of 2005. Now I spend time sewing, gardening, reading, and enjoying my grandchildren.

I remember speech class with Mr. Osterhus(sp?).
He wore a hearing aid, which we all suspected he turned off during our speeches. The class was in the 'new wing' on the first floor with large windows. I remember a couple of the guys would sneak out the windows when Mr. Osterhus was not looking, run to the little store on the corner and sneak back in with candy, ice cream, etc. for whoever gave them money. Then we would hold the treats under our desks and eat them when he turned his back to the class! Was anyone else in this class who remembers this?
