This is such a shock; am so sorry and God's blessings to family!  Will miss all our classmates that we have lost this past year!  I remember David and his great smile and his great basketball playing!  Some great games and always such a great person--Barbara Hoglund Newberry

After church today I checked my email and I saw there was an "In Memory" e-mail.  It is always with some trepidation that I go to the message.  I guess it is because someday there will be one I will be unable to read.  Reading that Dave had passed away brought all my thoughts to memories I have of Dave and I growing up together, playing baseball and watching him play basketball.  Wow!  Wasn't he great?  I especially remember him dunking the basketball.  Another memory I have is over 60 years old.  We often ate lunch together and I always wondered why he didn't drink anything while he was eating.  When he finished eating he would then drink his milk.  I asked him once why he did that and he said, " My mother said that if you drink something while you are eating, It hurts your ability to digest your food."   To this day, I wait until I'm done eating before I drink something.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Dave's family and I am very sorry for their loss.

I am very saddened as I read this. My prayers are for his family as they cope with this loss. David was a sweetheart even though I didn't have a lot of time to get to know him as I only enjoyed my senior year at Roosevelt. God bless his family.

This news surely saddens me.  Dave was in my class all throughout grade school, from kindergarten though 6th grade.  So many fond memories include Dave.  Even thought Junior High and High School saw us all take different classes, Dave was in many of mine and we always remained friends.  Of course, I like everyone else at Roosevelt, followed the basketball team and mourned with them in our senior year when we didn't get to go on to the State Tournament.  I was so proud of the way he and his team mates handled the disappointment.  He was good guy!  I send sincere sympathy to his family.  He leaves a big hole in many lives.

Very sad day when I learned about his passing .  Very humble & talented athlete and foundation of the  Basketball team that  was  destined to be state champiobs until the bogus ruling  by the  Minnesota HGigh  School  Leage.  May he rest in  peace  and condolences to his family. He was a class act his entire life

So sorry to hear about Dave.  He was just a nice all around guy.  I have to admit, I had a bit of a crush on him.  I pray for peace for his family.      Judy George (Morss)

Dave wasn't just the best athlete in our class, he lead with grace, dignity and class. Never a bad word and always praise for the accomplishments of others. True leadership. At our last lunch a few years ago at the Lake Inn (with Dave Mona and Randy Bundy) Dave wanted to know about us, not talking about himself, and his many life accomplishments, in his true style of leadership. His style touched many lives, and while he may be gone from this place, his impact will live on forever. I know it will with me....

I’m so sorry to learn of Dave’s passing. He was one of my heros from Standish Elementary on, both because he was the best athlete I knew and because he always held the high ground on how he treated people. I felt privileged to hang out in the neighborhood with him in grade school and then for endless hours playing basketball at Sibley park during junior high. He was an undisputed leader on our baseball and basketball teams, who, on the basketball court at RHS could calm me down during the heat of battle with just a wink or a few reassuring words. I’ll miss him. My sincere condolences to his family.  –Len Bjeldanes
