Hi Sue,

I am so very sorry to hear of Phil’s death.  I was much more anxious in the last few months since Phil told me of his relapse.  He was the best guy in our group from the standpoint of personal integrity.  He was the most conservative in our little group and his fear of his father kept him from goofing off like the rest of us. He was also the most conservative and rarely disagreed or argued with anyone over anything.  Cool, calm and level headed who never said a bad word about anyone.

I can easily understand why he was a good police officer.  It fit his personality, attitude and respect for others.  He was such a straight, well mannered man during the time I knew him.  I think I must have last seen him when we were a bit over 20 yrs old.

I also  miss him as he was the last of our bunch.  All gone except for me and I feel somehow a bit more alone now, but  I grieve for Phil, for you and the children and grandchildren.  He was strong in virtue, respect and honesty.

God bless you, Sue!  I think I even know you somehow, knowing how Phil felt about family and a sense of order in life.

I am blessed by knowing Phil as a good friend.

I will try to post this on the Roosevelt High website and can post something from you or from anyone in the family if they want to send me something.

Phil was always willing to help, I can offer now in his honor.

God bless you and your family,

John Lewis 1969
